Prospects for Cooperation with the Financial Research Institute of the Russian Ministry of Finance Discussed

On 29 October 2026, a meeting was held between a delegation of the Financial Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation (NIFI), headed by Director Gleb Pokatovich, and Abbosbek Jurayev, Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

The parties reviewed the results of three years of cooperation and discussed prospects for its further development. The meeting addressed improvements in public financial management, greater efficiency of budget expenditure, the development of intergovernmental fiscal relations and the social sector, as well as tax and customs administration.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged proposals on future research topics, taking into account the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan. NIFI representatives expressed their readiness to continue joint expert work, examine international experience and develop recommendations applicable to the country’s circumstances.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further elaborate the research areas with the involvement of experts from relevant ministries and government agencies, prepare terms of reference and coordinate arrangements for future cooperation. A schedule of online meetings will be developed to facilitate detailed discussions and the exchange of experience.

The parties agreed that the Institute for Fiscal Studies would coordinate the joint work on behalf of Uzbekistan.
